Richness and biomass distribution of the mangrove macroalgal association in a subtropical estuary

The richness and biomass distribution of mangrove macroalgae were evaluated along the main salinity gradient Paranaguá Bay subtropical estuarine complex in southern Brazil. We used a spatially hierarchical design to investigate spatial scales that contributed most variation within association. A total eighteen taxa cyanobacteria identified with nonlinear patterns distribution. While correlated gradient, algal did not follow predicted pattern. Conversely, more related small-scale processes than variation. These results indicated even though coastal regions are exposed large-scale environmental processes, somewhat disregarded should be also considered unravel biological distributions.
